Privacy Policy
Last updated 6 August 2026.
AFTERS is a private community. The short version: we collect what a members-only nightlife app needs to work, we do not track you, we do not run ads, we sell nothing to anybody, and you can delete all of it from inside the app.
What we collect
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your college email address | It is how you sign in, and it is the membership check — AFTERS is for students at one university. |
| Your name | Shown on your profile, in the room, and at the door. |
| Your photo | Your profile picture, and any photo you post. |
| What you write | Your bio, posts, and messages to people you have matched with. |
| School, class year, major, birthdate, interests, music | Optional profile details. They make up the card other members see. |
| An account identifier | The internal ID every row of your data hangs off. |
| A device token | Only if you allow notifications, so a waitlist offer or a match can reach your phone. |
| Your RSVPs and door check-ins | To issue your pass and know who is in the room. |
What we do not collect
- Your location. The app never asks for it. Venue addresses are our information, released to confirmed attendees — they are never read from your device.
- Payment details. Payment happens in Venmo, outside the app. We never see a card, a bank account or a Venmo password. We see that a payment arrived and which reservation it matches.
- Anything for advertising. There is no ad network, no analytics SDK and no tracking. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or share your data with data brokers.
- Your contacts, calendar, microphone or health data.
Who can see what
Nothing in AFTERS is public. There is no web profile and no search engine listing.
- Approved members of your community can see your name, photo, profile details and anything you post.
- Who's Going shows your card to other people attending the same chapter. You can turn this off in your profile, which removes you from it without affecting your ticket.
- Our staff can see member records in order to approve applications, work the door and handle reports.
- Nobody else.
Companies that process data for us
We use a small number of services to run the app. They process data on our instructions and for no other purpose.
- Supabase — database, file storage and sign-in.
- Postmark — sending your sign-in code and account email.
- Apple Push Notification service — delivering notifications.
- Venmo (PayPal) — payments, handled entirely by them under their own privacy policy.
Deleting your account
Profile → Delete Account, in the app. It is immediate and permanent. There is no waiting period and you do not have to email anybody.
Deleted: your profile, photo, posts, connections, messages, notifications and device tokens. Any ticket you hold for a future chapter is cancelled and the seat is released.
One thing survives, and you should know about it. If you reported somebody, that report stays — with your name removed from it. A report is a record about the person you reported, and letting it disappear would mean anyone could erase a complaint against them by deleting their own account. The same applies to a moderator's record of a ban.
How long we keep things
Your account data lives as long as your account does. Records of past chapters — that a ticket was issued and scanned — are kept so we can settle payments and answer disputes, and are not tied to a profile once the account is gone. Moderation records are kept as described above.
Your rights
You can see and edit your profile in the app at any time, and delete everything from it. If you are in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what we hold, to ask for a copy, and to have it deleted — the delete button does the last one instantly, and we will answer the others within 45 days. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Email afters.eclipse@gmail.com for anything else.
Age
AFTERS is for university students and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
Security, honestly stated
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted per member by database policy, and passes are cryptographically signed so one cannot be forged from another. No system is perfect. If you find a security problem, email us — we would rather hear it from you.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who sees it, we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
